Black Velvet Cocktail

If you're looking for an unusual stout based cocktail on St Patty's Day, you should try a Black Velvet. It's a cocktail that combines Guinness Stout and Brut Champagne. Brut Champagne, or brut sparkling wine, is dry and pairs nicely with Guinness. It softens the bitter coffee notes in the stout and adds a nice subtle sweetness. It's a cocktail that was actually invented in Britain, but goes great with some Corned Beef and Cabbage. Here's how you make it:
Ingredients
Guinness Stout (Extra Stout or Draught)
Brut Champagne (or dry sparkling wine)
Step 1:
In a champagne flute, fill the glass halfway full with Guinness Stout.
Step 2:
On top of the Stout, add Brut Champagne or a dry sparkling wine until the glass is full. You can mix the two together with a bar spoon or float the champagne on top of the stout, whichever is more pleasing to your palette.
The drink is surprisingly refreshing combining elements of bread, coffee and fruit. Cheers!
