The Ramos Gin Fizz is a famous New Orleans Cocktail that seems to be every patron's dream and every bartender's nightmare. When made the classic way, the Ramos Gin Fizz takes roughly 5 minutes to make and requires an exhausting amount of wet and dry shaking that is sure to give your shoulders and biceps a workout. But with the help of a handy kitchen tool, we have a method that will save your body and cut down your mixing time. You'll need a hand blender with a milk frother attachment to do most of the grueling work for you. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients
2 oz London Dry Gin
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Lime Juice
3/4 oz Simple Syrup
1 oz Heavy Cream
1 Egg White
2-3 Drops of Orange Blossom Water
Soda Water
Ice
Step 1
In a cocktail shaker, add 1 egg white. In cocktails that use an egg white we always like to add this ingredient first because if any shell fragments fall in, it won't ruin the rest of the drink.
Step 2
Add a few drops of orange blossom water, half ounce of lemon juice, half ounce of lime juice, 3/4 ounce of simple syrup, 2 ounces of gin and 1 ounce of heavy cream. Add a scoop of ice, seal the shaker and shake really well for 20 seconds.
Step 3
Strain the drink into another cocktail tin. This is where the hand blender with frother will make your life easier. Rather than dry shaking the cocktail for another 40 seconds, you will use the hand blender on medium-high speed for 20 seconds. When finished grab a high ball glass and fill a fifth of the glass with soda water. Pour the blended drink into a highball glass with the soda water and set it in the freezer for 4-5 minutes.
Step 4
Take the high ball glass out of the freezer and take a straw to poke a hole in the middle of the foam on top. Then carefully top of the drink with soda water until the foam rises higher than the glass. If you've done this properly, the foam should hold together and not spill every where. Add the straw back to the drink and enjoy!
